The V3a is a CDMA phone. It can be unlocked for use in other companies, if you program the software. This is not recommended. Verizon allows you to keep your electronic serial number or HEX, DEC, and now the phone in your network. The problem is that your phone has settings from your service back home. Since V3a phone is a low level that is better to get a new phone with a new contract because they get a new contract although the service change. You could probably provided a phone number for almost everything.
